KAMMSCHARTE ALPINE HIKE

From Kitzsteinhorn to Mooserboden

The starting point for the tour is at the Alpine Centre on the Kitzsteinhorn. You can easily reach this with one of the two Kaprun Gletscherbahn lifts. From there, trail no. 726 leads towards the Kammscharte. The alpine hike goes along mainly steep slopes, is exposed in some spots, and thus requires you to be surefooted. In addition, you should have no fear of heights if you would like to go on this hike. This tour has more than just its share of challenges to offer: there are breathtaking views, delicious local delicacies at alpine huts, and a fabulous landscape to sweeten the trail to the Kammscharte.

Description of the hike

Start at the Alpine Centre – head south to the glacial lake – go east to the Kammscharte – switchback up the eastern slopes of the Kitzsteinhorn – go down towards the Fürthermoaralm alpine meadow – follow the Kräuterwanderweg trail to Mooserboden | Alternative: take the bus to Mooserboden or back to the valley.
