Zell am See is located in the heart of the district of Pinzgau in Salzburg. The city on the banks of Lake Zell has been – together with Kaprun – one of the most popular holiday destinations in Austria since 1966, and guests came here in their droves to enjoy their holiday back in the nineteenth century. Zell am See is a climatic spa with lots of scope for relaxation in the heart of the Austrian Alps. Lots of exhibitions and concerts take place every year in the beautiful old town centre and pedestrian zone. Furthermore, the city organises lake, castle, mountain and music festivals, as well as dogsled races and ice hockey games in the surrounding region around Lake Zell and in Kaprun. Zell am See also features many traditional restaurants and pubs where you can while away the hours. And in winter, skiers have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the slopes, such as on the Maiskogel Mountain or at the skiing area of the glacier on the Kitzsteinhorn.
