Hiking in the region of Zell am See-Kaprun
Hiking on the Maiskogel in Kaprun is a unique experience for the whole family. The peak with an altitude of 1.675 metres offers many beautiful views and is also reachable with the funicular. You can enjoy a breathtaking view on the holiday region Zell am See-Kaprun without any effort. On the Maiskogel pasture you will even find a petting zoo, which will enthusiasm above all children. Mountain biker will also have the opportunity to discover the fascinating mountainside of the Maiskogel on various mountain bike tracks: going uphill from Kaprun to the mountain peak or downhill to the Schaufelberg or to the Klammsee.
Hiking tours on the Maiskogel in Kaprun
Alpine and chalet circuits: Starting point is the Maiskogelalm right next to the Maiskogel cable car mountain station. A gravel road on flat terrain takes you to Unterbergalm (approx. 30 min). A 20 minutes’ walk takes you up a gentle slope along a forest path to the Glocknerblick chalet. From the sun terrace you get an impressive view of the Großglockner (3.798m). From the Glocknerblick chalet you walk downhill on a gentle slope back to your starting point, the Maiskogelalm.
Hike across the Schaufelberg: The hike leads from the Hauptschule (school building) in Kaprun to the Plattengut, then continuing on the paved path (marker no. 3) to the next farm, Jausenstation Stangerbauer, or along a path marked no. 1 to Jausenstation Weissensteinalm. From Stangerbauer’s you can either continue along gravel road no. 3 or along mountain path no. 1 to the Maiskogelalm.
Klammsee/Glocknerblick hike: Starting on the parking area of the Maiskogel cable car station, you take the path no. 17 which takes you past the little lake Klammsee. Then follow path no, 17a uphill to Jausenstation Glocknerblick. From here it is only a 20 minutes’ walk to the mountain station of the Maiskogel cable car.
