The Open Air Museum in Großgmain is the biggest museum in Salzburg. The museum takes you on a journey through six centuries, displaying a lot of information about the life of farmers in the region around Salzburg. The museum contains old farmhouses, buildings for farming, stables and mills, which were dismantled, restored and reconstructed at the Open Air Museum in Salzburg. Many craftsmen show you their traditional handcraft in more than 60 different buildings, such as an old school, a lumber mill, a blacksmith’s or mountain pasture, and provide an insight into life in Salzburg from the sixteenth to the twentieth century.
