Kitzbühel in the Tyrol is only 50 kilometres away from Kaprun. The small city located in the Alps of Kitzbühel is very famous all over the world because of its legendary ski race at the “Streif”. Thanks to perfect snow conditions and excellent pistes Kitzbühel is – besides Zell am See-Kaprun – one of the most popular winter holiday destinations in Austria. But not only in winter! Where skiers swish down the famous pistes at the Hahnenkamm in winter, hikers enjoy great panoramic views over the surrounding mountain scenery. Apart from the ski pistes like the Streif, Kitzbühel also features various important historic buildings in the town centre, such as Catherine’s Church from the fourteenth century with its prominent tower, which is a distinctive landmark in Kitzbühel.
A daytrip to Kitzbühel
Kitzbühel is a great destination for a daytrip from Kaprun. Kitzbühel offers perfect conditions for an exciting daytrip, especially for sports fans. Several hundred kilometres of running, walking and cycling tracks are to be found in the Kitzbühel area, as well as plenty of hiking paths of all degrees of difficulty. In winter you will find perfect conditions at the ski pistes. Many of Austria’s most famous skiers were born in Kitzbühel. Four golf courses around Kitzbühel are great for a short round of golf in against a fantastic panoramic backdrop. Furthermore, many big events like the Austrian Open, the rally through the Alps and the Kitz summer nights take place in Kitzbühel. A relaxed shopping tour in the town centre and a break at one of the small cafés and traditional restaurants complete a daytrip to Kitzbühel.
